How Are We Doing After The Huge Winter Freeze?

Like so many others who experienced the deep freeze that swooped in late Valentine’s Day evening and then stayed through February 18th, the church building experienced no electricity from February 15 until it came back on sometime on February 18. And as the building warmed and things thawed, unbeknownst to humans, a pipe inside an exterior facing wall near the hot water tank also thawed. Much to our surprise, sometime between 11am and 2:30pm on the 18th, most of the middle section of the church experienced a flood of approximately 2 inches in water. Thanks to quick thinking by Rimon Younan and the best general contractor ever, Marco Guzman, the water was diverted from the sanctuary and turned off from outside. It was caught just as it was entering the sanctuary and cry room! Some water swooshed into those rooms, but not the inches deep as was in the utility room, pastor’s office, front office, foyer and hallway, and several classrooms.

Since that time, the bottom section of wet walls and drenched counters have been removed and the drying out process started in order to avoid mold and get on the road to recovery. The water to only part of the building has been turned back on, but that means both genders will have to share a single bathroom. So what does all this do to those that meet at the church on Sunday for worship and on Wednesday pm for Bible study?

Most of us will have to watch the live streaming of Sunday morning worship on FaceBook, youtube, or through this website. Adults who don’t need restroom privileges might be able to attend. We are politely asking, however, that no children attend for a couple of weeks because of the limited restroom availability and the open construction. We all know what curiosity did to the cat….. we want no accidents!

Through technology for the time being, all are welcome to worship as part of the family of God, forgiven of sin through the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and empowered by Holy Spirit for daily living! Looking forward to the body of Christ meeting together soon and in His Spirit! Hallelujah!
