Many of you heard the sermon on January 3, given by Robert Hamilton, which gave an overview of the ways the church building renovation has proceeded ever since the impaired driver took out the church’s sign several years ago. Subsequent to that event, the City of Hurst informed us that a replacement of the sign at that time would be ill advised since they would be widening Pipeline Road and replacement of a sign would have to be relocated.

It’s taken a few years, but the street is now complete. As part of the sermon, an accounting was given of how the funds from the City were very carefully spent to change the size and shape of the parking lot, add exterior lighting required by the City, a ramp to a rear door entrance, and the base for a new sign with a connection for power. There have been a few other items added to the church, like a roof replacement (paid entirely by insurance and donations specified for that purpose), and some technology.

However, the building is still lacking an important component. A sign. The City will reimburse the church a portion of the funds spent, but we have to pay for it first. After a lot of price comparisons, there is a sign designed for churches by church people that has some nice technology, is moderately priced, and will meet this building’s needs nicely. But, as stated in the January message, the fund from the street-widening project is extremely low. And the church will NOT pay for a new sign with credit, on payments, or just a handshake.

So quite a few people committed at that time to give towards a building fund for up to one year towards the full purchase of this proposed new sign. Additionally, several one time donations from donors (known and anonymous!) have taken a good sized bite out of that cost and we are very near halfway funded. BUT… a few folks who give on-line (and not by paper check) mentioned that a drop-down option on the “Give Now” button saying “Building Fund” would be very helpful. It’s only taken me seven weeks to make it happen, but there is now a “Building Fund” option when the drop-down arrow is selected.

And to all who continue to tithe, and go above and beyond with their giving in so many other ways, please know you are appreciated, necessary, and answers to so many prayers for the diverse and many needs of the church…which is not just the building, but the PEOPLE! We love you Pursuit Fellowship Family!
